A 30-day durational performance representing one calendar year, featuring an installation activated at 35-hour intervals, marking the rate at which one femicide happens in Argentina. A domestic knitting machine is used to record and materialize, through rows of knitted yarn, each femicide that occurred in Argentina in 2023. Color is used as a code where Color A represents the hours in 2023, and Color B1 represents lives lost to femicides. During the performance, a paper serves as an analog log where the performer keeps registering how many rows were knitted, the length measured in “fingers,” and the duration of the performance intervals. During the activations, the performer sits down at the knitting machine, and while she knits this data into the textile, she is simultaneously listening to live news channels in Argentina through AirPods. If she hears any mention of a femicide, she annotates this in Color B2.
